Tanpopo and Scents of Taste
At the request of the First Lady, we headed for Tanpopo in Mt Lawley for some Japanese comfort food. Cheap and cheerful. The Champion of the Ladies tried the normally prohibitive Unagi (smoked eel) which was truly yum. Also the Edamame (green soy beans) were a nice colour offset for the white rice. Then it was off to Scents of Taste on Walcott Street (next to Savini and the spectacle shop) for a naughty cake or two. Lemon Meringue was ok, but not outstanding. The tarte au framboise (raspberry tart) is always a winner there. The coffee’s so so to dégueulasse (disgusting) but the French arguably have a style of coffee making peculiar to them. Whatever floats your boat. I prefer the Italian style of coffee around the corner at Cantina where they’re kicking some serious goals in this area!
